GoalKeeper-Focused Training

While all EduKick programs seek to provide student-players with instruction tailored to fit their needs, President and CEO of EIFA , Joey Bilotta knows that student goalkeepers skills must be individually strengthened by applying each training exercise differently.

“Goalkeeping has a unique set of skills in the game,” Bilotta tells us. “We’ve gone to great lengths to design this program with the specialized training goalies need to excel and push the team forward.”

The academy is taking on goalkeepers from 12-23 years of age and offers them the chance to improve their game while learning the Spanish language and becoming a part of a local Spanish club squad. Keepers arrive in late August and stay for 10 months to mid-June.

The year-long program at Madrid allows these keepers to combine that additional daily goalkeeper training with EIFA’s high-level football training, academic structure, insertion into a local Spanish football t and Spanish language study.

Coach Roberto Navajas

EduKick Madrid NAVAJAS Goalkeeper Resident Course is named for its lead program director, Coach Robert Navajas of La Liga’s Real Sociedad in Spain.

“I designed specific coaching tools for my Goalkeeper Academy adapted to training goalkeepers,” Navajas tells us. “Creating intelligent keeper training sessions, where internal skills are enhanced and facilitated in order to strengthen the inner- game, which helps our goalkeepers to consolidate their personal maturity with the acquisition of sporting (goalkeeper) maturity.”

EduKick provides a team of professional goalkeeper coaches and advisors dedicated to training and development in the Spanish futbol environment. The program’s coaches use intense, progressive techniques and extra sessions designed for keepers.

Each of these coaches is overseen by Navajas throughout the year to offer a consistent and proven approach to the course.

“We wanted to provide a top quality, dedicated residential goalkeeper academy in our Madrid venue,” says Bilotta. “The opportunity to bring on Coach Navajas, a long-time friend of mine, has allowed us to do it well. His passion for excellence and extensive knowledge of goalkeeping has really elevated the course and given us an advantage over other programs. ”

Real Football Experience

The program offers many features designed to educate and build keeper techniques, like morning football training sessions with an EduKick Spain technical coach and personalized goalkeeper training sessions with the EduKick Madrid goalkeeper coaches.

Strength and conditioning for these players takes place in a specialized gym with Dr. Javi Mallo, a Real Madrid U21 fitness Coach.

EduKick’s connections in the area allow the student-players to be inserted into local Spanish teams on an age, gender and level appropriate basis. Two to three evenings a week are spent training with the local teams, and on the weekends they participate in match play with the local Spanish squad.

In addition to the training, each student-player receives one-on-one conferences with Coach Navajas and the opportunity to take a trip to Real Sociadad to visit the Coach and even watch training and a match.

“If you’re a serious and dedicated goalkeeper from 12-23 years of age, I would encourage you to join us at my football academy in Madrid, Spain,” Coach Navajas says. “I look forward to meeting you there.”
